The leather thickness tester is a device for measuring the thickness of leather materials. It obtains thickness data of leather samples by non-contact or contact measurement methods and provides accurate and reproducible results.

Typically, the leather thickness tester uses the following principles to make measurements:

1. non-contact measurement: a non-contact leather thickness tester uses optical or ultrasonic principles to measure thickness. For example, an optical sensor emits a light or laser beam onto a sample of leather and then calculates the thickness of the leather by detecting the reflected or scattered signals returned. An ultrasonic sensor, on the other hand, emits ultrasonic pulses and measures the time it takes for the sound waves to propagate through the leather and return, thus calculating the thickness.

2. Contact measurement: A contact leather thickness tester uses a probe or stylus to make direct contact with the surface of the leather. The probe or stylus applies a slight pressure and converts the pressure signal into an electrical signal for reading. This method usually requires several tests at different locations to obtain a more accurate average value.

The operation of a leather thickness tester is usually simple. The user places the leather sample to be tested on the measuring platform of the tester, aligns and adjusts it according to the device's instructions. The tester is then activated to take a measurement and the device records and displays the thickness value of the leather sample.

Some advanced leather thickness testers may also have the following features:

- Data storage: the measured data can be saved in the memory of the device for subsequent analysis and comparison.
- Automatic calculation and statistics: automatically calculates statistical data such as average, maximum and minimum values.
- Data export: Export measurement results to a computer or other device for further processing and management.
- Multi-function display: Display real-time measured values, statistics, graphs and other information.

In short, the leather thickness tester is able to measure the thickness of leather materials quickly and accurately by using optical, ultrasonic or contact measuring principles, and provide relevant data for users to evaluate and analyze.
