Tensile testing is a standard test method for testing the strength and elasticity of a material. For socks, stretch testing measures their strength and durability to ensure they can withstand the stress of everyday wear and washing.

Here are some tips on how to stretch test socks:

1. Preparations

First, prepare some tools, such as:

- a sock stretching tester;
- a clamp to fix the sock on the testing machine;
- a timer;
- A ruler to measure the length and width of the sock.

2. Pack socks

Put the sock on the jig and secure the jig to the sock stretching tester. Make sure the sock is stretched evenly without wrinkling or twisting.

3. Tensile test

Start the sock stretching tester and stretch the sock to the specified length. A ruler can be used to measure the length of the sock. With the sock at this length, record the tension on the sock stretching tester. Then gradually increase the tension until the sock breaks. The pulling force at which the sock breaks is recorded.

4. Calculation results

According to the data on the sock stretching tester and the length and width of the socks, the following parameters can be calculated:

- Maximum tensile force: the maximum tensile force that the sock can withstand before the sock breaks;
- Breaking tension: the tensile force that the sock bears when it breaks;
- Elongation at break: the ratio of the stretched length of the sock before breaking to its original length;
- Modulus of elasticity: how elastic the sock behaves in a tensile test.

5. Analysis results

According to the above parameters, the strength and elasticity of the socks can be analyzed. If a sock has a high peak tension, breaking tension, and modulus of elasticity, then the sock has good strength and durability to withstand everyday wear and washing. If the elongation at break of the sock is high, it means that the sock is easily deformed and not durable.

In conclusion, tensile testing is one of the important methods to evaluate the quality of socks. This kind of testing ensures that the socks are strong and durable enough to meet the needs of consumers, and it helps brands make better products.
