How to test the breathing resistance of mask?
2023/08/11
Mask breathing resistance test is one of the important indicators to evaluate the breathability and comfort of masks. The following is a commonly used method for testing the breathing resistance of masks:
1. Instrument preparation:
- Differential pressure meter: Use a differential pressure meter with suitable range and accuracy to measure the breathing resistance of the mask.
- Mask fixing device: used to ensure the stability of the mask during the test to ensure accurate measurement results.
- Flow Regulator: Used to control the air flow, usually set at 10 l/min.
2. Test steps:
- Place the mask on the test fixture and adjust to ensure it does not loosen during the test.
- Connect the test fixture to the differential pressure gauge to ensure accurate readings and calibrate the instrument when appropriate.
- Set the flow regulator to adjust the flow to 10 l/min.
- Before starting the test, make sure that the test environment meets the specified temperature and humidity conditions.
- Record the baseline reading (zero point) at the start of the test.
- To start the test, pass air through the mask at a flow rate of 10 l/min through the breathing port or other appropriate means.
- Measure and record the differential pressure gauge readings during the test.
- The test is continued for a fixed period of time, usually 1 minute.
- At the end of the test, record the differential pressure gauge reading at the end of the test.
3. Data processing:
- Calculation of breathing resistance: Subtract the reference reading from the reading of the differential pressure gauge at the end of the test to obtain the breathing resistance value of the mask.
- According to needs, the breathing resistance data can be converted into other units or indicators for comparison and analysis.
It should be noted that the test method of mask breathing resistance may be different due to different standards, specifications or industry requirements. In the actual test, please perform appropriate operation and parameter settings according to the used specifications or requirements.
