Flammability test methods for fabrics usually include the following common methods:

1. Vertical Burning Test (VBT):
This is one of the most commonly used methods for evaluating the flammability of fabrics. In the Vertical Burning Test, a standard-sized fabric sample is suspended from a vertical burning device and the lower portion of the sample is ignited to observe the speed of flame propagation, burning time, and the presence or absence of combustion droplets. This test method is commonly used to evaluate the burning performance and flame retardancy of fabrics.

2. Oxygen Index Test:
Oxygen Index is one of the indicators to assess the flammability of materials. The test method involves placing a fabric sample into a vertical combustion device and determining the minimum oxygen concentration at which the fabric can burn self-sustainably at a specific oxygen concentration by adjusting the concentration of the oxygen supply. The higher the oxygen index, the lower the flammability of the fabric.

3. Vertical Flame Resistance Test (VFRT):
This test method focuses on evaluating the ability of a fabric to resist flame. Fabric samples are suspended on a vertical burning device, and then a standardized flame source is applied to the lower part of the sample to observe the speed of flame propagation and whether the flame is able to penetrate the fabric. This test method is commonly used to evaluate the flame retardancy of fabrics in a fire.

4. Thermal Conductivity Test (TCT):
This test method is used to evaluate the ability of a fabric to conduct heat. A fabric sample is placed between a heat source and a cold source and the thermal conductivity of the fabric is evaluated by measuring the amount of heat conducted through the fabric per unit of time. Lower thermal conductivity helps reduce the rate of fire spread.

These are some of the common test methods for fabric flammability. Which test method to use depends on the purpose of the assessment, the requirements of the standard and the application area in which it is used. When carrying out these tests, it is important to comply with the appropriate test standards and safety codes, and to ensure that suitable test equipment and facilities are used.
