What is Martindale wear and abrasion tester?
2023/09/05
The Martindale Abrasion Tester is a device commonly used to test the abrasion resistance of fabrics, textiles and other materials. It uses a reciprocating wear head to exert a certain amount of pressure and friction on the surface of the test sample to simulate wear conditions in real usage environments.
Martindale wear tester usually consist of a rotating platform and a set of friction heads. During the test, the sample is fixed on the platform, and the wear head rubs on the surface of the sample in a rotating manner. The wear head is usually loaded with standardized wear materials (such as fine sandpaper or fine ceramic particles) to simulate different types of wear.
Test results are usually expressed in terms of indicators such as visual assessment of sample changes after a certain number of cycles, mass loss rate, or wear resistance. These indicators can be used to compare the wear resistance of different materials and evaluate their life and durability under real-life use conditions.
Martindale abrasion tester is widely used in textiles, apparel, home textiles, automotive interiors, and other areas to verify product quality and performance.
