The ICI (Indane Cylinder Imposed) pilling test is a test method used to evaluate the resistance of materials to pilling. The test method is primarily used in the textile industry to determine the tendency of a fabric to pill during friction. The following are a few common ici pilling test methods:

1. ICI Pilling Box:
The ICI Pilling Box is one of the most commonly used ici pilling test methods. This method uses a box with a rotating drum surface containing a number of textile specimens. The specimens are rubbed continuously against a set of standardized abrasives to simulate friction under real conditions of use. The specimens are subjected to a number of rubbing cycles at certain times and speeds, and then graded by observing and evaluating the degree of pilling of the specimens.

2. ICI Random Tumble Pilling Tester:
The ICI Random Tumble Pilling Tester is another commonly used ici pilling test method that uses a rotating drum containing a number of specimens and standardized abrasives. The specimens are randomly rolled, dropped and bumped inside the drum to create pilling by simulating the friction of everyday use. At the end of the test, a rating is assigned based on the degree of pilling on the specimen.

3. ICI Martindale Pilling Tester:
The ICI Martindale Pilling Tester is an ici pilling test method based on the Martindale method of abrasion, which uses a flat table disc and a set of standardized abrasives on which the specimen is held against the abrasives. The disk is rotated and moved back and forth in a manner that simulates real-life wear, resulting in pilling. The degree of pilling is observed and evaluated to determine the grade.

4. ICI Modified Random Tumble Pilling Tester:
The ICI Modified Random Tumble Pilling Tester is an improved version of the Random Tumble Pilling Tester. In addition to simulating the friction of everyday use, the method simulates the effect of other factors on pilling, such as wet conditions, pressure, etc. This improvement allows the test results to be closer to actual results. This improvement makes the test results closer to actual use.

5. Other methods:
In addition to the common ici pilling test method mentioned above, there are some other methods available, such as ICI Sirocco Pilling Box, ICI Buri Pilling Box and so on. These methods may differ in test equipment, test parameters or details, but the goal is to evaluate the pilling resistance of the material.

When selecting a suitable ici pilling test method, the choice should be based on the specific material type, industry standards and requirements. At the same time, in order to ensure the accuracy of the test results, it is necessary to follow the relevant standard operating procedures and to calibrate and maintain the test equipment on a regular basis. With the ICI pilling test, textile manufacturers and consumers can evaluate the quality, durability and cosmetic performance of materials in order to select suitable materials for various applications.
