Test and operation steps of Martindale abrasion tester
2024/08/01
The wear tester adopts the method of rotational wear to test the surface changes of fabric samples after friction or wear tests, and is commonly used for testing automotive interior materials. During the experiment, friction is applied to the rotating specimen in the tangential direction through friction components to determine the wear resistance of the specimen.
Experimental steps:
1. Clamp the sample
Place the cut sample on the test bench according to the standard requirements. Keep the sample flat, tighten the compression nut and gasket, and use a hex wrench to tighten the sample fixing ring.
2. Clamp the wear wheel and weight
Install the pre ground standard wear wheel on the front inner side of the balance arm and tighten the compression nut. Clamp the corresponding weight or balance weight according to the required pressure. Install wear wheels of corresponding specifications according to the requirements of different material testing specifications in the corresponding standards.
3. Start up
Turn on the power switch. Set the preset number of turns on the counter. Press the start button, and the motor will drive the turntable to start rotating.
Note: 1. When the grinding wheel reaches the sticker or the surface of the grinding wheel is uneven, it needs to be replaced. Before testing each sample, the grinding wheel should be cleaned with a brush.
Evaluation of Sample Results
After reaching the predetermined number of cycles, the instrument will automatically stop or, according to different standard requirements, the test endpoint will be determined by pressing the red stop button to stop the test and turn off the vacuum cleaner. Take out the sample for evaluation.
Operation steps:
Preparation before the experiment
Before the experiment, the instrument needs to be connected to the power supply, and the exhaust port should be connected to a vacuum cleaner
Accessories and other instruments: a pair of standard grinding wheels, double-sided tape (hard), fine sandpaper (for calibration). According to different standard requirements, it is necessary to prepare a 0.1mg precision balance, fabric strength machine, appearance evaluation light box, etc. to evaluate the test results.
Sample: Cut to about 110mm, leaving a hole of 8mm in the center. If it is necessary to compare the weight changes of the sample before and after, the original weight of the sample needs to be weighed in advance (if the sample is made of fabric or other materials that require double-sided tape fixation, the standard double-sided tape needs to be attached and the outer layer of the sticker needs to be removed, and the total weight needs to be weighed); To compare the changes in strength before and after the sample, its original strength should be tested before the experiment; Comparing other performance indicators such as haze requires conducting corresponding tests to determine the original parameters before the experiment. The sample needs to be pre wetted for at least 8 hours.
Speed regulation: After power on, start the instrument with both arms raised, and adjust the speed regulation knob to the desired speed according to the digital display.
