China's technical textiles industry continues to recover in 2022

January-August 2022, by the global major developed economies, high inflation, domestic epidemic emitting more than expected, extreme high temperature weather and other multiple factors, China's industrial textiles industry downward pressure has not been eased, but with the stabilization of the economic package of policies and successive policy measures, the industry's production and demand to continue the recovery since the second quarter, the industry continued to maintain growth in industrial value added.
 
In terms of production, according to the data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the output of nonwoven fabrics and cord fabrics of enterprises above designated size from January to August decreased by 0.5% and 3.2% year-on-year respectively, and the decline continued to narrow.

In terms of economic benefits, the operating income of enterprises above designated size in the industrial textile industry from January to August has returned to the level of the same period in 2021. The total profit decreased by 13.7% year-on-year, and the profit rate was 4.5%, a year-on-year decrease of 0.7 percentage points. In terms of fields, from January to August, the operating income and total profit of enterprises above the scale of nonwovens decreased by 3.1% and 35.9% year-on-year respectively, and the profit rate was 3.3%, a year-on-year decrease of 1.7 percentage points; Operating income and total profit increased by 0.5% and 2.0% year-on-year respectively, and the profit rate was 4.9%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points year-on-year; the operating income and total profit of enterprises above the scale of textile belts and cord fabrics decreased by 3.0% and 9.0% year-on-year respectively. The operating income and total profit of enterprises above designated size for awnings and canvases increased by 9.5% and 33.9% year-on-year respectively, and the profit rate of 6.2% was the highest level in the industry; other industries where filtration and geotextiles are located The operating income and total profit of industrial textile enterprises above designated size increased by 4.3% and 5.4% year-on-year respectively, and the profit rate was 5.7%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points year-on-year.
 
In terms of international trade, according to China Customs data, from January to August 2022, China's industrial textile industry exports (customs 8-digit HS code statistics) amounted to $30.64 billion, down 12.4% year-on-year; from January to August industry imports (customs 8-digit HS code statistics) amounted to $4.19 billion, down 13.9% year-on-year. By product, industrial coated fabrics is currently the industry's largest export products, exports reached 3.44 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 28.4%, felt / tent exports of 3.3 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 12.4%; cord (cable) with textiles, canvas, leather-based fabrics and other traditional products continue to be strong overseas market demand, exports were up 15.9%, 29.2%, and 17.1%. Nonwovens and related products, coil exports of $2.71 billion, down 12.3%, exports of 820,000 tons, down 13.3%; masks and chemical fiber nonwoven protective clothing (including medical protective clothing) exports were down 69.7% and 54.5%; disposable sanitary products exports of $1.91 billion, up 20.1% year-on-year.
